More than 10K jobs at 11 job fairs

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on Tuesday announced that the state will host 11 job fairs across the state during June as part of National Job Fair month.

The job fairs are a part of the Governor’s NY Works program to put New Yorkers back to work. The 11 events will include more than 375 employers statewide and feature more than 10,000 job openings.

“As we work to get New York’s economy back on track, these job fairs will help connect unemployed New Yorkers to job opportunities in communities across the state, from New York City to Buffalo,” Cuomo said. “The job fairs will be valuable resources for local businesses that are hiring, as well as offering job seekers an opportunity to use the many free services offered by New York State that can help the unemployed get back to work.”

Regional job fairs include:

• Rochester: 1 to 5 p.m. June 20 at Marketplace Mall, 1 Miracle Mile Drive, Henrietta.

• Syracuse: 12:30 to 4 p.m. June 7, Burnett Park Zoo, 1 Conservation Place.

• Buffalo: 1 to 4 p.m. June 8, Erie Community College, City Campus, 121 Ellicott St., atrium.

The job fairs will feature local businesses that have the largest number of openings as listed in the NYS Job Bank. On-site interviews will be offered. The New York State Department of Labor will offer free services including resume review and critiquing, workshops on job search tips and interviewing techniques, and resume scanning into the Department’s SMART job search system.
